Evaluation of Different Binder Combinations of Cement, Slag and CKD for S/S Treatment of TBT Contaminated Sediments

Abstract The seabed in the ports needs to be regularly cleaned from marine sediments for safe navigation. Sediments contaminated by tributyltin (TBT) are environmentally harmful and require treatment before recycling. Treatment methods include leaching, stabilisation solidification remove toxic chemicals improve their strength reuse construction works. This study evaluated effects of adding three different binder components (cement, cement kiln dust (CKD) slag) treat sediment samples collected port Gothenburg. goal this is assess leaching TBT dredged TBT. various employed application varied ratios binders. project has been performed Swedish Geotechnical Institute (SGI) on behalf Cementa (HeidelbergCement Group) Cowi Consulting Group, within framework Arendal project. An experiment designed evaluate CKD while reducing slag treatment.
